The Other

I see the other
Sometimes
Out of the corner of your eyes
When you peek out
In hasty glances
Hoping to see someone else

I move back to shadows
Hoping you will
Search for me
But you're searching
For something else

At dusk, at dawn, at noon
When your arms slip to my
Waist, I feel
The other in between
The spaces of our hands

I move closer to fill the gap
But the other insists
On pulling back, two people
Three shadows, and a
Myriad of stars blink
Overhead
