Lights of different colors can be seen. Songs of joy are being sung. Children playing and joyfully unwrapping their gifts. Everyone, but not Kathy. Every time Christmas comes, she would always be excited. But not this time. It’s her first Christmas since her best friend died. It was really a very tragic day. They were supposed to meet at Kathy’s house. Since her best friend’s house is just a block away, Kathy got worried when he didn’t show up. It would actually take 5 minutes for her best friend to arrive but she’s been waiting for twenty minutes already. She tried to call to his cell phone but no one answered. She called and called but still no one answered. She just kept calling until the battery on her cell phone died. It wasn’t until an hour later that she received a text message. It was from her best friend’s mom, saying that he met an accident. Kathy hurriedly went to the hospital to see what happened. As she walked to the emergency room, she kept praying that her best friend would be okay. When she arrived, her best friend was being taken to the operating room. She hurriedly went to his side and held his hands. She couldn’t even recognize him for he had blood all over his face and body. His shirt was torn apart and a big wound could be seen from his chest. Seeing this, her tears flowed from her eyes. Then she felt him squeeze her hand and she felt warmth coming from his body. She realized that he was trying to tell her something. She talked to him saying that it would be okay. That he could survive. That she would always be there for him. She was going to tell him that she had fallen for him. That she loved him so much. But then she didn’t, thinking that he would survive, if she could just have faith and believe. She prayed as they waited for the result. She hoped that nothing really bad would happen to him. An hour later, the doctor came out with sad news. Her best friend died. Tears fell down her cheeks as she remembered these events. Suddenly she was brought back to reality when she heard someone calling her name. As she looked up, she saw it was her best friend’s mom, carrying something in her arms. She gave it to her and said, “We found this in Mike’s belongings. I think it was for you.” She read the message and it said, “I never wanted to make it this long, but it’s better to be late than never. Love always, Mike." She wanted to cry but she held back her tears. She slowly unwrapped the box, her hands shaking. Inside was a heart music box. As she opened it, there was a picture of both of them with their names scripted just below. The music box played their favorite song. She cried hearing this. But she cried harder when she read the words on the side of the box: “ You will always be in my heart. I love you so much!” She cried for she did not tell Mike her true feelings when she had her chance. She realized that it was Mike’s Christmas gift to her. And Mike was supposed to reveal his true feelings to Kathy that Christmas. But then…Christmas came too late. Add as favourites (24) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 480
