Valderrama is the official name of the place formerly called Cabri-an under the jurisdiction of the Spanish officials residing in Bugasong. They complained to the governor that Cabri-an be separated to have their own town officials. A Spaniard was sent to Manila, carrying out the people's grievancies in behalf of the town's people to petition before the Governor General. The plead was granted and Cabri-an was changed to Valderrama in honor of a spaniard who came and worked for the separation of the town from Bugasong. At that time Valderrama was unsettled and probably unknown. The people who settled along the shores of Bugasong established a permanent settlement but frequently harrassed by the hostility of the invaders from other parts of the islands. The natives living in the shores decided to move eastward and settled permanently in Valderrama.
Public utility jeepneys and buses ply the route from Valderrama to San Jose de Buenavista or to the neighboring town of Bugasong. There are also vans and buses from Valderrama to Iloilo and vice versa.
