The town of Belison was formerly a barrio of the town of Patnongon, until President Carlos P. Garcia signed the Presidential Executive Order No. 421 on March 10, 1961, creating Belison the 18th municipality of the province of Antique during the term of Mayor Juan Estanol and the outlying barrios became separate entities. It should be noted that the Sitio of Belison was founded in 1810 during the term of Governadorcillo Francisco Roque.
National road to the northern part of Culasi passes through Belison. It is only 15.56 kilometers away from San Jose de Buenavista where a number of passenger jeepneys and buses take the route.
