TABANG ANTIQUE UROLOGY MISSION 2008 Print E-mail

Antique Medical Missions

    Fourteen urologists, five anesthesiologists, four nurses, five pharmacists and one instrument technician – gathered from eight hospital in Metro Manila - composed the team that conducted the Tabang Antique Urology Mission 2008 at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in San Jose last August 7 and 8.

    The surgical mission was organized by Dr. Dong Elio, project director of Tabang Antique, in cooperation with the Philippine Urology Residents Association led by its president, Dr. Joseph Cortero of Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center. Sixty operations were performed within a 24-hour period. The most common operation was the repair of inguinal hernia (25 cases) and removal of the prostate with the use of special instruments avoiding surgical incision (13 cases). Several cases of inborn conditions were repaired.

    In the afternoon of August 8, the Antique Medical Society and Advanced Central College hosted a Lay Forum on Erectile Dysfunction that was held at the Macapagal Center in Dalipe, San Jose.

    On August 15, Dr. Yul Quanico, an officer of the Antique Medical Missions, Inc. based in Metro Manila, conducted post-operative care of patients particularly those who underwent prostate operation.

    Accommodations were provided by Miss Nida Pallon, Engr. Dante Nebit, Danilo’s Beach Resort, Dr. Francisco Aquines, Dr. Boyce Jubilan, Dr. Ric Naciongayo, Bishop’s House and Tuburan sang Kabuhi.

    Meals were hosted by the Municipality of San Jose, Municipality of Hamtic, Mayor Joyce Roquero, Diocese of Antique, Provincial Government of Antique, Buenavista Cable, Antique Medical Society, Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, Association of Municipal Health Officers and hosts of accommodation.
