Libertad Chief Executive Bares Priority Thrust Print E-mail

SJA (PIA)- The Chief Executive of the Northernmost town in the province of Antique, Hon. Norberto Raymundo, Jr has summed- up his priority thrust in the acronym “HELPER” w/c stands for Health-Education- Livelihood- Peace & Order Environment & Rural Infrastructure.
 
A local governance report stated that Mayor Raymundo as HELPER of his constituents will give utmost attention to social services, environment & natural resources management, agriculture & fisheries devt. Entreneurship, business & industry promotion.
 
Libertad’s Botika ng Brgy  provides cheaper but quality medicines to the people & is successfully operating in the brgys under close monitoring & supervision of Dr. Teresita B. Escondo Municipal. Health Officer & DOH.
 
Embroidered Banig (mats made of bariw materials) is the town’s One-Town-One Product or (OTOP) .  It was given financial assistance in the amount of P150,000.00 by Philippine Endemic Species Conservation Program,  a non-government organization operating in the area.  This program provides livelihood opportunities to the people of Libertad.  OTOP is now being institutionalized in terms of production and marketing.

Mayor Raymundo believes that investment in education has long term benefits especially for the younger generation thus construction & renovation of school buildings is top in his priority thrust.

Improvement of the agriculture industry to boost food security is on-going.  The Office of the Municipal Agriculturist is presently processing the requirements for a Bagsakan Center where local products can be brought in one area which is accessible to all.  The office is also implementing the swine dispersal project to sustain supply of meat in the locality.  The town has also availed of P147 bags of organic fertilizer and 87 bags of certified rice seeds in support to rice production program.  

Among the priorities for Rural Infrastructure are establishments of Farm to market Roads, operation of Libertad Port, Construction of Bus Terminal and Water System in the Municipality. Congressman Exequiel B. Javier recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of 800-meter road concreting project in barangay Union Libertad.

Mayor Raymundo likewise issued Executive order  No. 08-021 institutionalizing the Solid Waste Management Program enjoining all people in Libertad to eliminate the practice of burning of solid wastes.  The town has also launched the Search for the cleanest and greenest barangay to promote environmental protection and conservation.

Lastly, The Chief Executive appeals to his constituents to engage in productive endeavors to promote peace and order.  Raymundo believes that when peace and order reigns in the community, development is not far behind.
