Antique National School availed of P11.95 million SEDIP school facilities project Print E-mail

San Jose, Antique – Antique National School (ANS), a century old secondary institution in the Province of Antique is the last recipient of a multi-million Secondary Education Development and Improvement Project- School Building Program before its phases out its program for school facilities development in the country.

The school located in the heart San Jose de Buenavista has availed of P11.95 million schools development project funded by Secondary Education Development and Improvement Project (SEDIP) with counterpart from the office of Congressman Exequiel Javier and Municipal Government of San Jose de Buenavista.

The school building facilities include three (3) units- single storey-four classroom building, single storey multi-function and single detached toilet or a total of 12 classrooms and one multi function building and toilet.

The project recently launched at the Antique National School, is considered a landmark edifice at the center of the capital town and expected to accommodate the fast growing student population which is now about 5,000 high school students.

SEDIP through a loan assistance from Japan Bank of International Cooperation allocated the amount of  P8,969,198.13 for the project while, Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Congressman Javier has a total counterpart of P2,509,000.00 and the Municipality of San Jose also appropriated P480,732.71 to complete the total cost of the project amounting to P11,958,930.84

A priority and flagship project of Congressman Javier and Mayor Rony Molina, both said that their modest investment in education is an investment for the future of children.

Schools Division Superintendent Corazon Brown, Rodolfo Caberoy, Principal of ANS and other education stakeholders expressed optimism that the  project will help not only SanJosenhons but also children from other towns in the province attain quality education and eventually help in the development of the province.

Education is among the priority thrusts of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo with its battle cry “Isulong ang Karunungan, Laban sa Kahirapan” particularly reaching poorest of the poor in the countryside.
