In this week I have seen movies about parenthood, “The Nannies Diary” and “Waitress”. It’s just a random choice in the list and it’s so happen Mother’s Day is coming. Not really that inspired.

 
Moms. I’ve seen a lot of them and have observed them everyday. At work I always meet parents, mostly moms. I also have colleagues who are becoming moms. I have known some who are aspiring moms.

 
I admire those moms who are strong, responsible and very loving to their children.  Like for  example my student Bill; his mom always waits for him in school. During break she would bring him a cup of water, wipe his perspiration, pat his back, change his shirt and hug him back to class. When I look at them they are very charming mother and son. Some moms I’ve seen in our school will just wait in the lobby, in motorbikes and cars or some will just fetch their children when class is finished. Some moms I know give a different affection to their children. They would just provide financial and material needs especially when they are very busy with their own careers.  There are also proud mothers who would push their children to join in English recital contests and a lot of activities.  I have these students too,  who doesn’t give a break on their studies. Vivian’s mom insists that she should learn more or might be left behind in the future. So my student Vivian has a full pack of different lessons during Saturday. Early in the morning she has to learn an instrument, she will come to our school and she also has to study composition writing in a different school. During Sunday’s I’ve heard she still has another class. I’m not sure if she still has a time to play aside from our class coz I know she is still doing her homework when she reaches her house. 

 
Two of my workmates are pregnant. I have seen them throwing up many times in the office. I have seen them looked awful during their first 6 – 8 weeks. I have seen them becoming very sensitive with everything that surrounds them. Holly was rushed to the hospital because she feels weak and dizzy with her conception. Dani my close Chinese friend told me how her skin changed, something in her face was manifesting like freckles and how her mood changes quickly. Both of them asked for leave because they are having a difficult pregnancy. Candy just delivered her baby last February. I remembered before she sleeps a lot in our office and even in our class. She doesn’t want to talk but just take a nap. She said that she experienced 18 hours of labor. It wasn’t an easy delivery. Now she is a happy mom usually shares her stories how her baby grows every month.

 
My best friend is one of those women who wish to have a baby even without a father. For her it’s already fine to have a baby. She doesn’t care of the people around her or her problems. As long as she will have a baby she will be happy.  She said she is just strong enough to accept that situation as a single mom. Forbid not! I would be happier to see her with a family. I told her my observations of these pregnant women in my school and she realized being a mother isn’t an easy job to do. You have to undergo a lot of pains before you can bore the fruit of your labor. You have to experience morning sickness, mood swings and becoming fat. I told her what Dani said to me, “I’ll never understand what it really feels like unless I’m into it already. I’ll never understand the feeling that stirring up in your stomach and your whole being.”  I can be the next in line but not too soon. I’m only just wondering. I’m very keen in observing these moms around me because I picture out myself in them. I don’t know what kind of mother I can be someday. I don’t know if I needed big preparations in order to be a good mom. I have a lot of questions in mind but I know I can answer them when I’m already a mom.
