Few more days and we will be celebrating the Earth Day. And recently, the world was covered with darkness in participation with the Earth Hour. Earth Hour is a project which was first launched in Sydney last March 2007 which is aiming towards solving the greatest threat posing on mankind - climate change. Through the lights-off campaign, electricity will be conserved thus decreasing the emission of carbon emissions and lights pollution. I am proud to say that I participated in this year's Earth Hour campaign. Since I am not at home by 8pm, I decided that I do my 1-hour energy conservation before I go to work. I turned off our apartment's lights from 7pm to 8pm. And when my sister arrived home, she told they're going to turn off the lights too by 8. And so, it became 2 hours. When I stepped out of the apartment, I noticed there were some units with their lights on. Along Ayala Avenue, the place looks gloomy, some of the buildings turned off their lights. By the time I arrived in the office, the lights just outside of the building and in the reception area where turned off.
www.worldwidelife.org says that Earth Hour is a global event created to symbolize each of us, working together, can make a positive impact on climate change - no matter who we are or where we live. Kinaray-a.com joins the whole world in fighting climate change. The film showing of "The Inconvenient Truth" is a gesture towards raising public awareness on what is happening to our world and what will happen soon if we do not get our act now.
