"FREE SURGERY FOR CLEFT LIP(NGONGO) AND CLEFT PALATE(BINGOT) PATIENTS"
FEBRUARY 22-MARCH 1, 2008

Three Operation Smile medical mission teams, comprised primarily of local Filipino medical volunteers, will be conducting missions in Bacolod, Cebu and Cavite to provide free medical evaluations and surgery for children born with facial deformities. Parents from throughout the Philippines will bring their children to one of the three mission sites, hoping that their son or daughter will be chosen for surgery.

Each team, consisting of more than 40 medical and non-medical volunteers, will include plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, a pediatric intensivist, an orthodontist, speech therapists, a biomedical technician and others.

The Bacolod City team will be working at Teresita L. Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital. Dr. Bob Valenzuela, from the Philippines, will be serving as the Plastic Surgeon Team Leader. The Cebu City team will be working at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Willie Go, from the Philippines, will be serving as the Field Medical Director as well as the Anesthesia Team Leader. The Cavite team will be working at De La Salle University Medical Center. Dr. Nikki Valencia, also from the Philippines, will be serving as the Field Medical Director as well as the Plastic Surgery Team Leader.
