Para sa tanan nga matawhay kag may tion para sangka post-Valentine date, ginaagda gid sa paglantaw kang Komedya Antique sa UP Diliman Amphitheater. 6:00-8:00 PM ang schedule kang Antique performance.

Ang ipasundayag kang Binirayan Foundation, Inc. amo ang "Komedya batok sa Sugal" nga ginsulat ni Exaltacion Combong kang 1962. Para sa detalye, basaha lang ang synopsis kag production notes sa idalum.

Ang Antique group maabot sa UP sa Feb14. Wara pa ako kamaan kon sa diin kami paturogon kang UP Committee. Pero sa gusto makigkita kanamun(para maghatud kang pamahaw, hahaha) i-text nyo lang ako sa 09275830174.

Synopsis

Objecting to the people's addiction to daily double, a numbers game popular in Antique in the 1960's, Prinsipe Kuryente decided to cut off electricity in the Kingdom of Emperador Koredor and Emperatriz
Bangkera. His father King Plantino promised to relinquish to him the kingdom if he succeeds in eradicating gambling. Meanwhile, Koredor and
Bangkera's son Prinsipe Doble meets Kuryente's sister Bombilya in the forest and falls in love with her. But Bombilya would not be swayed by Doble's amorous declarations, because she does not like gambling.
Because of Doble's insistence on daily double, Kuryente decides to attack their kingdom. Doble's men were no match against Kuryente's supporters, he finally surrendered and pledged allegiance to
Kuryente's kingdom. Doble's change of heart won for him the affections of Prinsesa Bombilya. The rejoiced with the wedding of Doble and Bombilya, and the coronation of the new king Kuryente.

Production Notes

"Kasanag batok sa Sugal" although written by Exaltacion Combong in the
1960's is still relevant to this day. The play uses stock luwa verses,
and mainly uses the banggianay (poetic joust) in a komedya. The
production retains these forms, and intensifies with the traditional
motifs of the komedya. Additional scenes like the lion scene and the
romantic scene between Prinsipe Doble and Prinsesa Bombilya complete
the komedya elements. The manner of delivery and mimetic movements
combine the various styles found in Antique. The concept of actors
using all sides of the platform and not hiding backstage copies the
traditional komedya, where actors mingle with audience and their
families. Designed for travelling performances, the set is a simple
backdrop inspired by the Maguindanao Royal embellishments and color
scheme. Scene changes are solved by using banners and poles to suggest
scenery. Costumes retain the elaborate European court motifs of
traditional komedya with contemporary touches. A grand finale with the
gallarda reminiscent of the komedya of old closes the play. The play
runs for 90 minutes, without intermission.

ABOUT HIRAYA THEATER COMPANY

Hiraya Theater Company is the resident performing group of Binirayan
Foundation, Inc. It was established in 2006 to form a production for
the tribute to Graciano Lopez Jaena, a region-wide production
presented at the Rose Memorial Hall of Central Philippine University
on January 19, 2007. Hiraya Theater Company presented "Fray Botod".
Hiraya Theater Company's second production was "Kahon", a Kinaray-a
adaptation of Orlando Nadres's "Paraisong Parisukat" presented at the
Advance Central College and Polytechnic State College. It's third
production is a komedya by Exaltacion Combong. A 1960's piece, which
uses local the luwa and banggianay to present campaign against
gambling and laud the rural electrification program. The komedya will
be presented at UP Diliman, Quezon City on February 15, 2008. Alex C.
Delos Santos is the artistic director of Hiraya Theater Company.
Another performance is scheduled in Tibiao, Antique on February 22, as
part of the National Arts Month Celebration.
